Welcome to High Family History!
Welcome to www.highfamilyhistory.com! This website chronicles the High family which descends from Sven Hög (1801-1847), a soldier who hailed from Jonköping County, Sweden, and his wife Anna Stina Johansdotter (1806-1861). It contains the series of books The High Family’s Swedish Ancestors, which recounts the lives of Sven and Anna Stina, as well as all their known ancestors. It also contains the book The High Family’s Ancestral Homeland, which describes the parishes and farms that the High family’s Swedish ancestors lived at and the churches they worshipped at.
Who Are
The High Family?
The High family that is described on this website are descendants of Sven Hög and Anna Stina Johansdotter. Sven and Anna Stina had four children: Margareta, Gustaf Adolf, Sven Johan (John) and Sofia that survived infancy and immigrated to America, where they eventually settled in Nicollet County, Minnesota.
Upon arriving in America, the four changed their surname to “High.”
Chronicling
The High Family History
I have been researching the Swedish roots of the High family since 2006. In 2011, my series of books on the High family’s Swedish ancestors began shortly after I visited the area in southern Sweden where the High family’s Swedish ancestors lived. What I had initially planned on becoming a single book on the High family’s Swedish ancestors and their homeland expanded into a ten-volume set of books (nine of which have been written) on the High family’s Swedish ancestors, together with a 500+ page book on their homeland. I was able to trace the High family’s ancestry to the 13 th century to my 20 th great-grandfather, Nils in Långserum. At this point, I’m fairly certain that more has been written about the High family than any other Swedish American family in the English language!
